Sestrško lake (Medvedce Reservoir)

Sestrško Lake, also known as the Medvedce Reservoir, lies in the heart of the Drava Plain, about 10 km southeast of Ptuj. It’s a preserved piece of nature in the middle of farmland, often called a “bird paradise” by locals.

The eastern part of the lake is used for fish farming, while the western side is covered with wetlands, reeds, and cattails, hiding smaller water surfaces. Despite being man-made, the reservoir has developed an impressive ecosystem: 10 species of amphibians, 49 species of dragonflies, and over 200 bird species can be found here. Rare wetland and aquatic plants add even more charm to this peaceful spot.
